Those that know me are fully aware of my enthusiasm for bicycling, running, exercise of any type and especially nutrition. No, I m not one of those credentialed health gurus but I have learned many things from all of them.
I have been a type one diabetic for about 15 years and believe it or not, I am convinced that I have a diabetic advantagewhen evaluating eating plans. I am keenly aware of my blood sugars before and after meals as well as before, during and after exercise sessions and know immediately how different foods affect me. I also care passionately about helping myself and others prevent diabetes, heart disease, alzheimers and kidney disease, all of which have devastated my family. Yup, I am willing to do anything to change that path to sickness and I want to share and discover healthy ideas with my friends.
In this blog, I will share some of the things I have learned about food in my own kitchen and hope to include some great advice from some of the “big boys” in nutrition such as Drs. Joseph Mercola, William Davis and Michael Greger. I do not endorse any particular eating style but will try to expose some of the most interesting and universal concepts. I have many great recipes to share. I invite your comments, experiences and recipes also. We can learn from each other!
